FAQ Data in Pascal

How frequently is Pascal’s data updated?

On a daily basis data within Pascal's databases is updated on a source-specific basis. However, the time it takes before new and updated information to become visible in Pascal can differ per source. This is due to the variety of structure, quality, format and technical complexity of the sources. As a result, some sources can be processed and published more quickly than others.

Pascal is updated on a continuous basis and uses multiple data sources across its screening categories (regulatory watchlists, PEPs, and media). New or updated information is processed as soon as it becomes available from the original source, after which it is validated and normalised before becoming visible in Pascal.

The time between publication by the source and availability in Pascal may vary due to differences in source structure, data quality, data format, and required validation effort. As a result, exact update intervals cannot be guaranteed per source. In practice, most updates are available within a day; longer processing times typically relate to additional quality checks or source-side constraints.

Which media is covered in Pascal?

Pascal’s Media screening category provides access to news articles relating to the individual or entity being screened. The media database contains articles from news outlets published in Pascal’s supported languages.

These articles are analysed to identify adverse and negative events. Based on your media screening policy, only adverse and/or negative media is displayed in your cases.

Which languages does Pascal support in media?

Pascal’s media database includes articles published in the following languages:

  • English
  • Spanish
  • Russian
  • German
  • Italian
  • French
  • Turkish
  • Portuguese
  • Arabic
  • Romanian
  • Dutch
  • Polish

Media language support is independent of the language used in the Pascal user interface.

What is the historical range of media data available in Pascal?

Pascal’s media database include coverage from 2015 onwards. In some cases, media articles do not contain a clearly defined publication date, or it is not possible to automatically extract this information from the source. As a result, a limited number of articles published prior to this period may also be present in the media database.

The exact time range visible in your cases depends on the publication date filters defined in your media screening policy, which may further limit the results shown. Coverage depth may vary by region and language, with more comprehensive coverage available in more recent years.
